The drive through Wyoming was pretty boring...no surprises there. Cameron made it known that he thinks I'll marry some Scottish man with a mustache and we'll settle in Rock Springs, WY. And we'll also have 7 girls within the first 4 years of marriage. I take this as a testament of Cameron's hatred toward me. (This "vision" went from bad to worse on the drive home, FYI). -On the ride to CO, I told my friends I was nervous about skiing...that I felt pressure to like it or else I won't fit in. Cameron told me to relax...then he said if I didn't like skiing that I was out of the friendship, and I could take a Greyhound back to Idaho Falls. Somehow that didn't help me to relax AT ALL. :)
We made it to our destination safely (Black Hawk, CO). Our hosts, Frank and Georgann Kocsis, were amazing. Their home is lovely and they were very accommodating. I love those people!
Anyway...to make this long story a little less long, I took skiing lessons at Winter Park and rather enjoy the activity. It is a fun and exhausting way to spend a day!
While the girls were skiing at Winter Park, the boys went to Copper Mountain, and they beat us back to the house by about 15 minutes. Frank had a fun idea to tell the boys that I had gotten hurt skiing...so he ran into the house and told them such, and Jason was there in a flash. Jason and Frank helped me out of the car, then Frank passed me off to Cameron and both boys helped me inside. Jason asked if it was my knee or ankle, so I decided it was my knee then and there. They helped me sit down and relax; Cameron even took off my boot for me. *For the record, I am not a liar; I've never been good at it. But somehow, this little prank took off and the boys believed me. :) Jason is on ski patrol at Kelly Canyon in Idaho, so he was going to take a look at my knee...but I didn't want things to get too out of hand. So when Cameron asked me if I had taken any Ibuprofen yet, I said, "No, I don't know what I'd take it for, and I doubt that Jason will find anything wrong anyway" while I stood up and bent my "wounded" knee. It took about 30 seconds for it to sink in that I was really ok. Jason clapped for me and "gave me props." Cameron walked away and acted all hurt that I would "lie." I say they deserve it, after all the crap they've put me through! (I really did feel guilty, but I still can't help but be all sorts of happy that they fell for it!)
Here are some pix from the trip:
Here we have Jason, shoving the liner into the ski boots he let me borrow.
Very kind of him.

That's me and Brooke with Winter Park behind us.
Gina, Kelly and Brookey on our way back from Winter Park.
Lunch with Staci at Vail! This was one of the highlights of the entire trip!
Staci is a friend I met in AK 3.5 years ago.
It was so AWESOME to meet up with her!
Gina and Brooke skiing VAIL!It was a very cold day on the hill, I must say.
(It hovered around zero most of the day)
The girls' opinion of Vail.
Gina and Brooke at Vail.Cameron and Jason said we're spoiled to have skied Vail
so early in our ski careers. Neener, neener!
Brooke and Jason getting cozy outside one of the Vail shops. Why is he wearing shorts in below freezing temperatures...?!
Cameron found a furry hat at one of the shops in Vail.I still think he should have bought it...
By the way, I should let you know that I really did hurt my knee while skiing in Vail. It's what I get for lying to the boys.
Kelly and Gina getting ready to go snow shoeing on new years eve day.
This is me before I started making a snow angel. It was cold! And my right snow shoe kept falling off...
The ladies...(Kelly, Brooke, Gina)
The fellas...(Cameron and Jason)
Cameron fell asleep in the car after snow shoeing.
The gals in the back seat on our way back home.I'm sure this picture was taken somewhere in Wyoming.
We stopped in Rock Springs for lunch.(I think Jason and Cameron were hopeful I'd find a kilted man at Subway).
Kelly and I ran back out to the car to grab something
and everything dumped out of the back of the Explorer.
Here we have Kelly shoving stuff in the back, making it all fit.
I'll post the pix of New Years Eve in downtown Denver once Jason gets his pix online.
Overall, the trip was pretty dynamite! I've got some excellent friends, and they know how to have a good time! -I must say, I got my share of being teased and then some, but it was great fun from start to finish!
