This past Saturday, Brooke, Trevor, Lisa, Lisa's dad and I went to Teton (where the snow is plentiful) to build said snow cave. All for Jason. The next day after church, we returned to our fortress with more people and celebrated Jason's birthday in style. -It was kinda cold. But not bad.
Anyway...I forgot to take my camera on Saturday, but we took some pictures on Sunday. PS Jason loved it. His first four words were, "Awesome!" x4. :)
Jason told us he hates it when people wear ski goggles
when they're driving. It annoys him a great deal.
We'd do anything for Jason!
Here we have Jason leaning against the mini van we drove.
Jason hates mini vans. But he was a good sport.
While Brooke, Lisa and I were getting things ready outside,
the rest of the clan played pool in Brooke's mom's basement.
Here, the birthday boy is about to sink one...
Kelly's lining up...
The snow cave and the horse.
(A horse was involved in the "vision" too.)
When we were all finished setting up, Brooke an Lisa
headed back to get the crew while I waited with the camera
to get a picture of his initial reaction.
This is what he saw when he entered...
(By the way, the flowers were another integral part of the vision.)
And this is what I saw when Jason entered his fortress of snow...
"AWESOME!"
The pink and purple cupcakes.
The cupcake tins had pictures of Tinkerbell.
Just for fun...
Some of the group:
Jeremy, Kelly, Matthew and Lisa H.
A loverly image...Jason on his noble steed,
in front of his snow cave, holding his flowers.
The party:
Cameron, Jason astride Buster, me,
Brooke, Jeremy, Kelly, Matthew, Lisa H, Kattie,
and Lisa B.

PS Buster moved his head in front of mine every time Brooke's mom took a pic with my camera. Slightly annoying...
But Jason really seemed to enjoy himself and our antics. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jason! You're worth the trouble!

How the heck did you make that cave!? That is cool. You made me want cupcakes!
I was wondering the same thing. How in the world was that cave constructed!
Yeah, the cupcakes WERE tasty. :)
Okay, so the snow cave was constructed like this: Lisa's dad is a scout master and he has the tools to build one. Really, you can't make one without it. Or at least I couldn't. Anyhoo...we had some equipment, including 4 tarp-type thingies, plus shovels, lots of snow, and snow shoes to pack it down every so often. Once we made the ginormous snowball, we had these probe thingers that we stuck into it, and Lisa's dad started digging into it. Once he was inside, he dug until he saw the probes, then he had us move them over again and again, until the cave was dug out.
So pretty much...lots of hard work and necessary equipment: that is how you build a snow cave. Yeehaw!
How fun!! You are always doing something fun! That is the coolest snow cave. I remember trying to build those when we were younger and they never ever worked out!
