Daaaaa Bears...

If you don't understand the title of this post, watch this. Seriously. I'll wait.

So, umm, my trip was pretty much awesome. I didn't watch any sporting event (crying shame, kind of, since Chicago is home to tons of sports teams--although I will NEVER cheer for the Bulls).

We kept ourselves busy with other things though. Such as...

The Bean...

That's my reflection in the Bean
It had the potential to entertain me for hours

Some sea life in the Shedd Aquarium

And this guy was my FAVORITE!
(the sea turtle, not the scuba diver man)
We called him "Crush"

Coral Reef aquarium...
perdy, eh?

Atop the Sears Tower
It's the 3rd tallest building in the world, so they say

Another view from Sears Tower...
tall buildings near Lake Michigan

OK Go at the concert they did especially for Columbia College students
(We know someone who knows someone...)

They ROCKED!

They really rocked!

They came out and played in the crowd:
Lisa touched Damian's shoulder as he walked through the crowd.
Lucky! (I wish I had thought to touch him as he walked by...
or goose him or something!)

I tried posting the video I took of the awesome performance in the crowd.
Three times, I tried. But it must be too big because it ain't workin'.
Maybe I'll try again some other time; it was so cool--
an acoustic version of A Million Ways...
*sigh*

The Chicago Temple...

A spinoccoli Chicago style pizza from Pizzaria Due on Ontario
Interesting. Very interesting

Navy Pier

The Chicago Skyline from Navy Pier

And, of course, WICKED
It was so incredibly amazing!

Janell and I paid way too much for Wicked shirts...
but don't we look cute?

Saying g'bye to Janell at the Denver airport
Aren't we all so attractive?

Ok, so best part? Hmm...OK Go seriously rocked my world...but Wicked was...well...wicked. After the concert on Friday, I thought, "Nothing can beat rockin' out to OK Go in person!" Then Wicked happened, and it blew me away! I really hate "The Wizard of Oz" but because of Wicked, I'm willing to give Oz another go. Having said that, it's apples and oranges, baby. Two different kinds of amazing, fabulous, splendid, awesome, incredible, extraordinary, unbelievable, fantastic-ness of musical prowess, comparing OK Go and Wicked. Suffice it to say, I loved them both!

Walking around Chicago was fun too; Michigan Ave. is fun enough. We also went to the Art Institute of Chicago; very cool. I was bummed they didn't have any Picasso, but I got to see Renoir's Chrysanthemums, and I pretty much love that painting. We skipped the Michael Jordan statue. On purpose, just so you know. (I prefer Stockton & Malone to Jordan, thanks.)

We had Chicago pizza. Twice. Once at Pizzaria Due, and you saw how t
asty that one looks. ('twas good, but the crust ain't my fave.) We also ate some pizza from a place called Giordano's, which I actually preferred to Due. But they were both tasty, and an important part of our trip. :)

Hmm...what else? Oh yeah, at the OK Go concert, people were crowd surfing; fine, that's to be expected at a rock concert. However, a rather large dude came from behind, and as we were passing him forward, the people ahead of us weren't prepared for his weight and they dropped him. Right on Lisa. Really. She was right in front of me, and I couldn't see her under the mass of man atop her. Poor girl! Sure, it makes for a cool story, but OUCH!

Other highlights? We took a bus to the Shedd Aquarium. On our way, the bus just broke down, for reasons unknown even to our bus driver. So we exited the bus and waited while the cops (or some other official type people) waved down another few buses. Crazy, eh?

The Sears Tower was cool. 110 stories, plus whatever those white things are on top. We went to the Skydeck on the 103rd floor. The elevators were down, so we had to walk. I think they should've given us a discount. I jest! The elevators worked just fine, and they moved us up quite fast. We got some pretty views from that high up, for sure.

I know there was more, but these were the highlights. It was an awesome trip; I'm so lucky to have such amazing friends to plan such a fantastic weekend! (Thanks also to my folks and brothers too!)

I am so jealous about OK Go and Wicked. I heard from a little bird that Wicked will be coming to SLC, though, so hopefully I'll get to see it. I'm with you on Jordan--way over-rated anyway. Kids these days don't even know who the guy is.

Sounds like a good time. I can see where the "bean" could entertain one for a while. I don't know who this band is you speak of. Jealous that you saw WICKED!!! I hope the monkies weren't as scary as in Oz.
