Winter and spring this year were very wet; ergo, any sort of waterfall has had TONS of run-off. I had mentally prepared myself for how cold the water was likely to feel. I had also mentally prepared myself for the possibility of the waterfall being too powerful to actually climb up it this year.
I was right on both accounts, by the way. (I occasionally am, you know.)
I remember last year, the waterfall was bigger than I had ever seen it (in my limited experience); this year, it was too big to even think about hopping about on the rocks to jump into the river, let alone climb up it.
Ri-dang-diculous!
Climbing up this thing would've been suicide.
We had a fairly large group come with us this year, including a handful of people who had never been before. Kinda made not being able to climb up the falls more of a bummer; despite that little setback, we still had lots of fun.
Here's my proof:
My face pretty much screams "I don't like it!"
That water was COLD!
Kylee was less of a wanny than I was, apparently.
FLEX, baby!
Brookie, Shallin, Brooker, Skyler, Gina, Janae, Beth, Keri, Jeanna
We still tried climbing up onto some of the rocks.
They were all slick with moss.
("Be careful, Janae!")

Good times were had by all. (And I'm already excited for next year's Fall Creek adventure!)

is there a hike involved? because I'm kind of not a fan of hiuking. let me rephrase that... hiking's really not a fan of me (look in your heart, you know this to be true). other than that, looks like fun. top it off with a bonfire/cookout, sounds ideal. but no camping.
I love that waterfall!
you make me want to blog some more. I can't believe i've let these monumental events escape my blog! I vow to do better. Is it too late for me to start playing catch-up as well? Will it EVER happen?
Oh, and yes. That water was SOOO COLD!!
Those are beautiful pics! I get a little nervous around waterfalls. I'm always thinking one of the kids might want to get just a bit too close.
Sandy
That is gorgous! I don't think I would be that brave to hop in so good for you!
