EXACTLY what i needed...

As much as I love my life in Idaho Falls, I've needed a break from it...for more than just a weekend away, ya know?

So...I left IF last Monday evening right after work and high-tailed it home to Brigham City.

And here's what went down on my 5 day hiatus:

Tuesday I went to SLC with my pops...we did a session in the Temple and then went for a look-see in the Hall of the Prophets. Little did we know that to go anywhere in the Conference Center, you need a tour guide and his security pass. Fortunately, someone stopped us before we could set off a number of alarms; help came in the form of a kindly old gentleman. :)

And then...my dear old Dad took me to lunch at the Rodizio Grill. I had never partaken of Brazilian cuisine and I thought of Brent during the entire meal. DELISH! The only problem with this place is that I can't eat my money's worth of food. (In this case, I guess it was Dad's money's worth...thanks, Pops; I was not unappreciated!) The handsome meat-man kept giving me rather LARGE samples of all sorts of meat, when all I really wanted was a bite or two. Anyway...I hate to over-eat so I'm afraid I let a bit go to waste. By the by, their pot roast and grilled chicken were out of this world! And then...the handsome waiter brought the grilled pineapple. By this point in the meal, I wasn't hungry, but I wanted to try it. OH. MY. HECK! That grilled pineapple is the best stuff I've ever put in my mouth. Seriously.

Grilled tomato with parmesan...
and a ton of meat.

The best thing ever...
grilled pineapple!

Dad enjoyed the meal too...

This raspberry-lime drink is delish!

Wednesday...I ran some errands with Dad and got a couple of things ready for the next day's feast...and then Aaron, Amy & Sons came up to Brigham! Most of that day was filled with fantastic conversation and playing with my adorable nephews. (Seth says the cutest things these days! He says, "Oh no!" quite a bit, labels cars, trucks, buses and choo-choos like a pro, and (my favorite), "I stuck!") A good portion of Wed/Thurs was filled with people holding on tightly to Seth until he said, "I stuck!" Way cute. Way fun.

Seth and Jackson love cheesy poofs!

Sweet Jackson, all ready for beddy-bye...

Me and Seff.
(Yeah, I'm makeup-free; don't judge!)

Thanksgiving Day was splendid! Mom prepared a FAB feast, and we tried out a couple of new salads. (Thanks to Callie for the dynamite recipes!) Of course I took a nap, and all the boys spent a good portion of their day watching the football games. (Interestingly enough, Goose's team is the Lions and Vance loves the Cowboys--Thanksgiving is a happy day for football in our house every year...even if the Lions lose horrendously every time.) Later that evening, I went to see a movie with my bros and sisters-in-law: Four Christmases. It's not terrific, I'm not going to lie. At least it was only $4.

Friday...I went to Body World 3 in SLC with Mom. It was pretty dang cool. That evening I chilled some more with my folks. It was awesome.

Saturday...I woke up to French Toast fresh off the griddle--French Toast made especially for me by my loving mother. I spent the morning packing and lounging, then had some quality talk-time with Goose, and then came back to IF in time for...

A surprise party for Joshua! He had no idea it was even coming!

Josh LOVED his
"I Love Lucy/vitameatavegamin" card!

Blowing out the candles...
Side-note: Josh doesn't love the pink/purple combo--
that was all MY doing.

Brooke playing Guitar Hero!
It's AMAZING she even gave it a try;
Brooke is anti-GH.

Such a wonderful break makes me think I can handle three more weeks till Christmas with a smile on my face!

hooray for family time. I'm jealous.

Just fyi, the food in Brazil is AMAZING. We got to go there a few times when I was on my mission. (Yes, in Bolivia...on the border...yes, we had permission.) :)

Yes - the Rodizio Grill is fantastic, and you weren't just whistling Dixie on the meat. (And not just the edible stuff either, wink wink).

Next time we're down there - we should all make a trek to SLC; we've gone with the Allen clan, but not the Orgillians.

I love Rodizios, but I can't eat my moneys worth of food either. HOWEVER, my husband can eat moneys worth for himself and for me. So maybe we need to go back there.....hmm good idea. Thanks, Gina! ha ha.
